Chris Noble at PDN’s Outdoor Photo Expo

Westminster02 Chris Noble at PDNs Outdoor Photo Expo

Chris Noble’s next public presentation will take place at Photo District News’ inaugural Outdoor Photo Expo held at the Hilton City Center in Salt Lake City, Utah August 4-5.  The Outdoor Photo Expo will be held in conjunction with Outdoor Retailer’s Summer Market Trade Show, and attendees will have access to one day of Outdoor Retailer as well.  Noble’s seminar is sponsored by Lowepro, whose products make it possible for him to shoot in some of the most challenging environments on the planet.

Drawing from four decades working as a professional adventure photographer, The Creative Adventure is a multi-media presentation using story, images, and real world professional experience to explore the challenges, motivations, and potential available to all outdoor photographers working today.

By teaching how to use creativity to better know our selves, Noble’s program guides the audience in discovering their own Creative Calling, their own unique personal expression and the underlying passion that drives and sustains it.  Using experiences gleaned from documenting expeditions to the world’s most far corners, as well as editorial and commercial assignments for major advertisers and media, he demonstrates how to approach one’s career in much the same was one would contribute to a successful expedition.

Noble examines the challenges facing visual communicators in today’s rapidly changing world.  Making a living as a pro shooter today is much like paddling a kayak through flood stage rapids— the power and swiftness of the changes in technology, culture, and the marketplace are unprecedented in human history, and there’s no way to plan for the future before being slammed in the face by the next wave. Noble presents a strategy for not only navigating the rapids, but how to enjoy the ride.

The final section offers attendees the opportunity to discuss with the group those questions of most concern.  Since most photographers work independently this type of round-table discussion is an important way to gain fresh perspectives about the issues confronting our industry as a whole.  If you are attending the seminar and have specific topics or questions you would like to discuss please send them to chris@noblefoto.com

Whether you are currently a working pro, or hoping to soon be one, Noble’s presentation will entertain, educate, and inspire you to take your work to the next level.  In addition to numerous schools and photographic workshops,  Noble has been a featured speaker at the Banff Mountain Film and Book Festival, the National Geographic Society in Washington DC, The Moab Photographic Symposium, and The Mountaineers Club in Seattle Washington.
